Rights Regulations for results of Use

When hit compounds are selected as a result of a biological activity test, we recommend that the entrusting institution take part in joint research.

Use of test results for academic (non-commercial) purposes

  • When the result is disclosed as a publication or a conference presentation, etc. the KCB should be acknowledged as a source of the compounds.
  • When the result is disclosed as a publication or a conference presentation, etc. the relevant testing institution should consider the entrustor as a co-author or a joint applicant, if the entrustor has made a contribution more than simple entrustment.

Commercial use of a test result

  • When a testing institution intends to carry out commercial development, using the test results of compounds, it should sign a written agreement concerning the role of the testing institution and allocation of rights with KCB within six months of the selection of the candidate substance for development.
  • When the testing institution fails to proceed with development research within six months of the signing of the written agreement, KCB may entrust the development research to a third institution in consultation with the testing institution to prevent the biological activity test results from being wasted.
